Shady's Back, Back Again.

If you are even still out there my precious readers... I'm back. I'm not sure how permanently, but I've been itching to write again and just didn't know where to start.

I'll catch you up though..

Hailey and I moved into a perfect little apartment minutes away from school, and we are absolutely loving it. These past few weeks we've been meshing our styles together to add some charm to our humble abode. As soon as we put the final touches on the rooms you better believe there is gonna be a "home tour" post about it!

I started my third year of college almost a month ago. It's crazy that time has flown by so quickly and that I've been at JWU for two full years now?! I've been staying insanely busy with studying and homework for my classes, even though I only have three.. rough life, I know;)

I am still nannying Ben and Ari and still pulling my hair out with their each and every shenanigan. They are sixth graders now.. and just like a wise teacher once told me, "once you hit middle school you become jaded and apathetic." Oh, how true is that statement.

I'm also working on getting more involved at school and have joined a few clubs. I was recently accepted into Collegiate Ambassador  Team (CAT) which works with potential incoming students leading tours, talking with concerned parents, and sharing my love of JWU with others! I'm also waiting to hear if I was accepted into Student Alumni Association (SAA), crossing my fingers!

As usually, I'm enjoying the easy and not so easy life as a college student. Counting every penny to make rent while taking midnight trips to Wendy's for frosties. Jordan, Hails and I have watched a record amount of movies these past few weeks to supplement for no cable. We eat out way too much, go to the gym far too little and try and meet as many new people as possible.

The new school year is gonna bring challenges, (well, already is), but I am ready to take it head on. But my friends and I are gonna make the most to every minutes. Cheers to a new school year, even if I am a month late.

Until next time and I promise it will be sooner than the last time,

Jasmine

1 year, 100 posts, and 1 happy blogger!

Today is the one year anniversary of Sweet Somethings and coincidentally also the 100th blog post!

So much can happen in a span of one year: things of greatness, things of sadness, times of great joy and jubilation, deep thoughts, outings and vacations, adventure, love and heartbreak, holiday celebrations, filled with friends, family, acquaintances, picture taking and a whole lot of writing.

You, my loyal readers, have followed me along my finest and not so finest moments, reading, laughing, and even sometimes crying along with me. You even put up with my countless spelling and grammar errors, missing words and run-on sentences.

From one of my very first posts, you were my biggest fans. You continued reading, even when half of it didn't even make sense.

You trusted my baking advice and tried some of my favorite recipes like this and this. You cheered me on when I talked endlessly about all the cool cakes I made in class. And most of all reaffirmed my calling and passion, as I shared in this special post.

You were here listening as I poured my heart out when I was sad or upset about things. Even as silly as letting go of my sweet French student, Tino, last summer. More importantly, when I was thinking back to the scariest day of my life, when I heard my Mom had almost died if it wasn't for my Savior and Protector.  And most recently, having to leave a piece of my heart in Roseville.

Holidays were always followed by pictures and thoughts, which you promptly read along with.
ThanksgivingChristmasbirthdays, and even Mother's Day, we celebrated together.

You let me talk endlessly about how much I love being a nanny. Reading all about this cool activity and that way of going about things. And always reminded me that I am a super cool nanny ;)

Reader, you were so very patient with me. You let me fuss, whine and talk about how life is just. not. fair. Fussing about people, about how hard I think life is, and finally understanding that it's all gonna be ok.

I experienced a lot of love this year too. In a whole lot of different ways. Here are my favorites, (Mom and Dad get Re-married! Roommate Soulmate Theory) and by the reader count they were yours too!

My loving readers supported my family and I through a big move to Iowa(Home Tour!) and gave a big cheer for me living on my own this summer(Summer Home!)

Most of all, you allowed me to share my heart. My jumbled thoughts about God and the way we should live our lives. You read along as I tried to teach myself  how to be a better follower of Christ and all around person, and while doing so touching your hearts too. Pouring my heart out about lovelife choices, and what it means to have humility.

I could never be more grateful for the joy you have brought me by being so loyal. Thank you for every sweet, encouraging, and funny comment you left and even just taking a spare moment to catch up with my crazy life. You are all so special to me.

With the most love,

Jasmine
Don't worry.. I really am wearing clothes in this picture.

Summer Storms.

It is officially summer my friends! I survived my internship, I survived the stresses of packing your entire room 10 minutes before you have to check out and I survived my second year of college! I can't believe that I am already a junior in college. I feel old! That just means my parents feel even older ;)

My last day of my internship was awesome! I got my review back from my boss and she almost made me cry with the positive feedback she gave me. I was so flattered by how impressed they were with my work and how much they loved working with me. It was so bittersweet to leave all my new friends and work family. They had welcomed me to the Inverness with open arms and they were sad to see me leave. But man was I ready for a break!

After my last day, I was treated to sushi by Jordan which was delicious! We went to a place in the Highlands (my new most favorite part of Denver) called Sushi Sasa. I highly recommend it!

Denver Skyline from The Highland
Then stayed up forever packing.. which I still didnt even get that much done.

Friday morning we had to be out of our room by 12pm. So we were up and at 'em early. Moving stuff from the room to my car, from my car to the Rosemary House (the house were I am living with a few other girls for the summer). Thank God for the help of Jordan and Katie. I would have never been able to move all my crap on my own.

I treated them out to breakfast, which ended up not being that great.. hahah.

At 11:50 I was still packing but some how we managed to be check out at 12pm on the dot thanks to my most wonderful friends.

Hails and I take a picture together every year, well this is only the second year, of our empty rooms.
Here's year one and two.

After work Friday, I headed out to the Woog's house. The Woog's have known me since I was born and were good friends with my parents in high school and on. I absolutely adore Scott and Lynette and their goregous daughters Megan, Maddy, and McKenna. They were so gracious to let me stay at their house this weekend since I am technically homeless until Tuesday when I move into the Rosemary house.

This morning was Graduation at school and I went out to support my fellow classmates. It was a torrential down pour of rain.. the entire time. And you guessed it, we were outside. But we toughed it out... even if I had to physically ring my dress out several times.

We are all super proud of Emily and will miss her next year! She gave an amazing speech on behalf of her class mates and had a beautiful message to share!

We toughed it out a little longer for pictures and goodbyes.

Team Emily!

I also technically graduated with my associates with manga cum laude:) Yay!

Even though the weather isnt ready for summer, I am. Im ready for the new adventures, new friends, new experiences and warm weather that is in store. Summer 2012, here I come!

Until Next Time,

Jasmine

Dude, where's my blog?

So I realize that I have been totally MIA these past two weeks. I am just finally getting back in the swing of things from being on break. School work, community service, going to the gym, work and every other tedious item on my daily to-do list has been taking over my everyday and frankly I havent really had anything exciting to blog about not do I feel like blogging.

GASP! I did really jut say that. Blogger queen has been worn out. But I'm back but hardly better than ever.

This isn't going to be some clever blog about I have come home from work everyday this week covered in mud from playing basketball in the muddy back ally to please Ben and Ari or how Jordan, Hailey and I joined a tour group going school today just to pass time while we waited for brunch at the dinning hall, but rather a collection of pictures showing how lackluster these past two weeks have been.

Our late New Years photo!

Jordan surprised me with dance classes!
Peanut Butter and Carrot snack jar!

BenBen and I during the Broncos Patriots game!

Dip n' Dot snow!

Scrubbing muddy shoe prints off the white carpet..

Air Ben!

Never-ending flipping of the emergency phone from upside down to right side up....

Lots of LIFE playing..

Jungle Quest with the boys.

Jordan's juicy lamb burger, from Little H Burger!

My thug roommate.

So as you can see, its been pretty mellow around here. I'm hopping with this next coming week that I will be so caught up on my homework that I will get to blog about my new diet and exercise plan! But we'll see..

Until Next Time ( which may or may not be a while),

White (2 days until) Christmas

NO, I will not be having a white christmas this year. But I did celebrate an early Christmas in Denver were we just received 10 inches of that white, wet, and fluffy stuff.

It hadn't really felt like Christmas in Denver. Yes, I was buying gift, wrapping them and giving them away but something about this year didn't feel Christmasy. Maybe its because I wasn't with my family, or Hailey and I didn't have a tree but even Christmas music didn't feel enough like Christmas.

I needed some holiday cheer because I was becoming a "bah-hummbugger" so this weekend I headed over to my home away from home ( Jordan's house) and helped them pull together their decorations.. ( they were a litttle late this year.)

I got to make my first gingerbread house with Mikey:)

And help decorate their "Guam" themed Christmas tree too!

ANDD Jordan and I exchanged gifts and I almost shed a tear for the amount of beautiful baking supplies that I got. Jordan had carefully taken note of all the things I said I wanted from each cooking store we had gone in:) I got my first rolling pin, the exact style and design I wanted!!

I also got a Silpat, ramekins, and The Kitchen Bible!!

YIPPE!

Yesterday was the last day of classes and I was supposed to fly home right after that. But I had a pleasant surprise when we received that 10 inches of snow and for the first time in two years JWU called a snow day! Jordan drove to schoool without checking the weather line so he ended up in our room at 6:30am. ( grr... so much for sleeping in). We got ready and braved the snow to get breakfast.

We headed to Capitol Hill to Jelly this amazing cute breakfast and lunch shop.

They had all these vintage cereal boxes on the wall and cute fabric circles hanging from the celling.

And they had DE-LIC-OUS hot chocolate!

Later that afternoon, I headed off to the airport in anticipation to see my family. And here I am home sweet home to celebrate a sunny-shine Christmas, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Until Next Time,

Jasmine
